but this time wins the award for most last minute! 2 days! Just 2 days before Halloween!
I just sent an email saying "sorry! Not enough time to build one for you!"
I made an I Love Lucy dress years and years ago for a client and posted it on my blog. And for some reason no one ever understands that I am not Amazon or Party City with a shelf of pre-made stock and that a custom dress will cost more than $50.
Here's a photo of the second one I built for a different client (because I don't seem to have any photos of the first one on my phone).
I spent the day priming things for paint and then I remembered to shoot a quick video. #SewingStudioBuild
I started cutting all the edges while Janet was away yesterday morning. When she got back after lunch, she pulled out a roller and started filling in. I'll put a pic below in the comments. #SewingStudioBuild
We broke for lunch and then came back with a portal ac unit plugged in to an extention cord from the house. Can't wait until they finished hooking up all the electrical and we have the mini split cooling the room for us - it was stupid humid today! #SewingStudioBuild
It looks like snow but it isn't. We got nothing but sleet in my suburb of North Texas. It came down for at least 24 hours starting Friday night.
My husband had to chop it down where it drifted up the back door so we could let the dog out without fighting to reclose the door every time.
Needless to say, the Metroplex is pretty much shut down. I don't think it's going to be warm enough to start melting until Thursday afternoon.
Merry Christmas, everyone!
If you're looking for something Christmasy to listen to/watch over the next few days, here's the most recent episode of my favorite podcast Blurry Creatures. It's a really fascinating (and nerdy) deep dive into the Biblical story of the Magi.
Two days after my son turned in his last paper for his bachelor's degree, I finished my shirt sewing project. Eight shirts, made to measure. Most of the fabrics are linen. Yes, regrettably you can tell exactly when I got my sewing machine repaired... but I hope these help him as he moves through his master's program and in life.
