Today, Janet and I were able to start laying floor in the studio! If we had been able to start right away without having to clean up drywall mess, we probably would have finished. You can enjoy watching our hours of labor in a couple minutes. Part 2 and some photos to follow in a minute...

I spent the day priming things for paint and then I remembered to shoot a quick video. #SewingStudioBuild
I started cutting all the edges while Janet was away yesterday morning. When she got back after lunch, she pulled out a roller and started filling in. I'll put a pic below in the comments. #SewingStudioBuild
We broke for lunch and then came back with a portal ac unit plugged in to an extention cord from the house. Can't wait until they finished hooking up all the electrical and we have the mini split cooling the room for us - it was stupid humid today! #SewingStudioBuild
I still need about double this amount of triangles, but needed to lay them all out to see what colors I need more of. Definitely need some mid-tone blue and some more (solid) oranges. Might need a little pink/fuchsia and some almost white shades for highlights. I think I'm good with the amount of purple and green.
I'll share design inspiration eventually, but I have a plan and I think it's going to work! I might need to make more than I plan to use just so I can play with arrangement.

I think I've basted at least 300 triangles now. The prep work is going faster than I expected it to go. I calculated that I need 678 total for my planned design - so almost halfway there!

I made some decent progress on basting while listening to podcasts this weekend. I started with some purple ombre fabric I didn't show in previous post. I cut out as many fabric triangles as I could fit on the half yard I had and made it through a little over half that pile.
I'm going to mix in some outerspace/stars that coordinate with all my other ombre fabrics, so I cut a pile of those this morning. I'm waiting until I have all the purple and the stars basted to determine how much I need to cut up of the original ombre fabric I posted because I know I won't need to use it all.
Swipe to see progress and star fabric.
