I have a short corporate costuming gig next week and the people who hired me needed a costumer who knows how to pull & prep things from rental storage. Someone from the California team discovered a secret gem of a rental store only a few miles from my house! I went to see what The Backstage Closet had for the four people cast in a convention skit.
I could have spent all day there and still not seen everything! I was able to pull wigs, jewelry, hats, sunglasses and other accessories along with a bunch of clothing options. I can't believe in my over twenty-year career no one I've worked with has known about this place!
There were rooms and rooms of costumes in the first building and the bigger warehouse was full of racks of costumes plus big props like bathtubs and couches. Pictures below are from the first building where I spent the most time.

I spent the day priming things for paint and then I remembered to shoot a quick video. #SewingStudioBuild
I started cutting all the edges while Janet was away yesterday morning. When she got back after lunch, she pulled out a roller and started filling in. I'll put a pic below in the comments. #SewingStudioBuild
We broke for lunch and then came back with a portal ac unit plugged in to an extention cord from the house. Can't wait until they finished hooking up all the electrical and we have the mini split cooling the room for us - it was stupid humid today! #SewingStudioBuild
More on the Michael's purchase of JoAnn. "Ever-expanding" plus it went on to say they will be carrying sewing machines, notions, and thread in stores. And there was a 50% off one item coupon - let me know if any of you need that.
I'm kind of surprised I have to sign up for emails (not sure if I want to yet) considering how many companies sell email lists.
I finally finished the patchwork jeans! @SewBrooke , the elastic in the waistband suggestion worked brilliantly. I ended up taking it as close to the button/buttonholes as I could, because the waistband I originally picked had the buttons on the wrong side and I had to piece it together/the second waistband was also collapsed in from wear. I really don’t know why, I checked against all of my jeans and I did put the fly on the correct side! Anyway, it’s done, and I’ll be happy to come up with a project that takes much less time. After I clean up the leftover bits— it looks like I used 7 pairs of jeans/shorts, so I have a lot of tops and leftover leg/waistband scraps!
