After working backstage and on film sets with a half apron type pouch I made myself over 20 years ago, I know exactly how I like having access to my phone and where I like the bulk around my waist/hips.
For the upcoming cruise, I know I also need easy access to room keycard, plus a place to tuck my passport. I've been looking at all kinds of hip packs out there, but of course, none are exactly what I want in terms of style, functionality, and types of pockets.
I know I like a horizontal slip pocket in the front at the top for my phone - that way I can sit down and still access it above the bend of my legs. I also know I like the bulk on my right leg and carrying a water bottle on the left side.
Here's what I'm thinking so far. The dotted line in the sketch is a phone slip-pocket on the back next to body. Small center front flap pocket is for room keycard and maybe credit card/cash. Main pocket hangs below leg bend on right leg and has a zipper on the flap that creates a flat pocket behind main bag to tuck passport.
Now I just need to do some rough mocking up to get proportions and lines right.
Is anyone interested in a pattern for something like this?

I spent the day priming things for paint and then I remembered to shoot a quick video. #SewingStudioBuild
I started cutting all the edges while Janet was away yesterday morning. When she got back after lunch, she pulled out a roller and started filling in. I'll put a pic below in the comments. #SewingStudioBuild
We broke for lunch and then came back with a portal ac unit plugged in to an extention cord from the house. Can't wait until they finished hooking up all the electrical and we have the mini split cooling the room for us - it was stupid humid today! #SewingStudioBuild
I draped a really rough half-scale ruffle tail for one of the debutant dresses Janet & I are making. I just eyeballed and freehand cut a scrap of (un-ironed) muslin in a spiral and pinned it to my little dress form to make sure it was long enough to reach from hem to waist. Then I marked the folds and traced it onto graph paper and cleaned it up. The graph paper makes it easier to copy at 200% and tape the pieces back together.
I'll transfer the enlarged frankenstein paper pattern to brown paper when I'm back at the studio tomorrow or Friday and then make it out of the real fabric.
