Another bit of scrap saved and turned into lingerie. I bought this silk ??? years ago and most of it was a nightgown I think. I had just enough for this slip.

I think I figured out a good stitch length/width so that the applique goes on well and doesn't make me stabby with impatience.

One picture taken "artistically" and the other is arranged for greater clarity. Not the easiest object to photograph...

Studio video tour!

I spent the day priming things for paint and then I remembered to shoot a quick video. #SewingStudioBuild

Paint!

I started cutting all the edges while Janet was away yesterday morning. When she got back after lunch, she pulled out a roller and started filling in. I'll put a pic below in the comments. #SewingStudioBuild

Time-lapse floor install (part 2)

We broke for lunch and then came back with a portal ac unit plugged in to an extention cord from the house. Can't wait until they finished hooking up all the electrical and we have the mini split cooling the room for us - it was stupid humid today! #SewingStudioBuild

TFW...

(See comment for full post that is cut off for some reason)
You have a huge thread stash and the perfect match to the fabric is the tiniest spool of old Dual Duty that they don't make anymore. Arg.

None of the Gutermann thread is a color match (which explains why I don't have a bigger spool in this color). Luckily, I also have a Metrosene color card and one of those is the right shade of bright purple. I ordered a big spool. I refuse to order spools that aren't at least 1,000 yards!

When I measured these old tiny spools during a project a million years ago, I can only get 2 and a half bobbins from one spool. That's only enough (barely) for a project if you have 2 spools worth - one for bobbins and one for the needle.

Worst case scenario, I would have sewn the dress with a not perfect match and saved the tiny spool for any topstitching/handsewing. But I hate having to ration thread like that on a client project!

Not bad for matching online!

Pretty fabrics for my client's Derby dress have arrived. Solid purple will be the main fabric with a metallic brocade for the inside hem, some part of the hat decoration, and probably the center front V of the bodice.

I’ve been in a hole the last few weeks, trying to hit marks needed for first dress rehearsal (last week) and then finish everything in time for first show (this coming Thursday). Still have a few things to clean up but here are some stills from in-studio dress rehearsals: (1) evil queen, this is the leo I posted about earlier, married to leggings we cut from an old bodysuit to form the new bodysuit; (2) the Huntsman; (3) some of the dwarves; (4) the Prince and Snow White (before adding trim.
